NCP4Industry network is organising an Info Day with the purpose to inform Cluster 4 Industry National Contact Points (NCPs) and the European Research&Innovation community about the Clean Steel Partnership on the 13th of November, from 10 to 12.
Clean Steel Partnership is developed in the context of the European Union (EU) goal to achieve climate neutrality by 2050 and to move towards a zero-pollution ambition for a toxic-free environment and circular economy. This policy entails two major challenges: on the one hand, climate change must be tackled, by reducing the amount of CO2 emissions; on the other, this must be done by ensuring that our society continues benefiting from sustainable growth. The Partnership aims at:
- supporting a climate-neutral and competitive steel production in the EU;
- exporting successful EU technologies for low-carbon steel making to large markets outside the EU (e.g. China, India, Japan, US);
- making the steel sector less dependent on fossil energy and feedstock;
- securing the presence of a strategic industry in Europe as a key part of important (future) value chains;
- enabling know-how spill-overs to other industries;
- enhancing processes for smart use of resources, which potentially further enable the contribution of the steel sector to the EU circular economy strategy.
